Mayan Fire Ceremony

I’m grateful to Puma Tzoc and the Elders for the opportunity to take part in the Mayan Fire Ceremony held in Turner, Oregon on November 30. This ceremony takes place at the end of the 260 day Mayan calendar and is recognized as the most sacred day of the year. This gathering brought Mayan people from as far away as Los Angeles and included the ordination of Maynor as a new Ajq’ij, an important position of service and sacred responsibility in the Mayan community. I was moved by the spirit of unity and mutual support present. The gathering was a confirmation that we are all one family and that we all worship the same creator.
